On Oct. 7 2006, ex-TCVians in the twin cities came together to form the first ever TCV Alumni Association, Minnesotta. Nine executive members were unanimously approved. Donations from everyone created an initial fund of US$840 as seed money to kick start the Association.
The main objectives of the association are agreed thus:
- To generate sponsorship for the needy Tibetan children, especially from Tibet who are destitute and orphans. Children of the current and former Tibetan political prisoners will be given preferential treatment.
- To support TCV, especially the ongoing Tibetan College project in Bangalore, which when completed will provide crucial Tibetan cultural affiliation to the Tibetan youths.
- To provide Tibetan political, social and cultural platforms to the Tibetan population in Minnesota with special emphasis on youth activism.
- To coordinate with other TCV Alumni Associations to best help others whenever necessary.
- To connect with all the TCV alumni in Minnesota and give them a renewed sense of belonging to the TCV schools
